The Brazilian Northeast is an area of heavy climatic contrast ranging from humid and warm at the coast to arid at the interior zone.

The Government of the State of Bahia, located at this area, contracted TECMES through a loan of World Bank for the provision and installation of river level, precipitation network, of more than 130 station in a network in order to know the hydrological resources of the state.
